Hi there,
I'm a mixed-heritage Brit-Hong Konger currently based in Edinburgh and looking to practise Cantonese (in person or online). I have a Cantonese tutor but am hoping to practise basic conversation with someone else more casually. In exchange, I can offer English conversation practice. I was born and raised in the UK, and I'm a writer and editor (I also used to teach English, both ESL and academic). I'm interested in reading, food, culture, dance (especially contemporary and street), language, and travel.

I've been living in Scotland for 8 years now, but I'm originally from the US. I lived in Boston before I moved to Edinburgh. My family is Chinese (via Taiwan), but I never learned to speak Chinese other than a year of Mandarin at uni. So I'm on the slow journey to rectify that. Would love to meet up with someone local to practise my baby Chinese with someone who needs a bit of English practice because, not gonna lie, the convo will mostly be in English!!
I love.... crocheting and knitting, especially jumpers and cardigans / travelling, most recently to Corfu and hopefully Japan next / reading historical fiction and science fiction / dining out and sometimes cooking.

My English level is intermediate, and I prefer video chats or meeting in person in public places like cafes or parks, especially if you're also in Edinburgh. Ideally, I’d like to practice around 2–3 times a week, depending on our schedules.
