I am a 71-year old retired police officer. I also have a Master's degree from Columbia University in International Affairs. I have been in love with the Russian language ever since I started studying it in college. I have been to Russia/USSR four times, but not since 1992. I would love to make another trip to Russia, but that seems impossible due to the political situation. So I would really like to have a connection with someone who lives in Russia now. 1) I grew up in a Hindi-speaking household but stopped speaking to my parents in Hindi so I want a low pressure environment to practice speaking.
2) 大学生の時に日本語を勉強した。日本語力で会話に参加するのは気が引けて、もっと練習したいんです。もちろん、英語を教えてあげますよ :)
I want to state explicitly, I'm looking for people based in NYC -- I want to actually talk in person. To me body language etc. makes a big difference and it's always good to explore this wonderful city.
