I'm currently learning Japanese and looking for native speakers or advanced learners to practice with. In return, I'd be happy to help you with German, whether it's grammar, pronunciation, writing, or just casual conversation.
I've learned around 1,000 kanji so far and am currently using Satori Reader to improve my reading skills. My main goal is to become more comfortable with real Japanese.
I'm a researcher by profession, so I use English regularly and am very comfortable communicating in English as well. If needed, we can switch between English, German, and Japanese.
I'd describe myself as friendly, respectful, patient, and easy to talk to. I believe language exchange works best when both people feel comfortable and can learn from each other.

Hi, I am Ian and I'm interested in learning Japanese. I started shortly before New Years 2024 and I've been learning everyday since then. My hobbies are a bit nerdy. I program (Also as a job), play video games and watch anime. I also want to get into making music although that needs to wait a bit since taking another hobby might take too much time. I am a native Swiss person so the language I can offer is standard German. Swiss German should also be possible if you are interested. I also use English as much as German so that is a language I can offer too.

I have great joy and passion for the German language. It would be a pleasure for me to pass on my native language to others. I could help proofread texts, but my main focus would be practicing pronunciation, I’d prefer to use Discord!
I’d love to learn a few basic words in Chinese. I’d also like to learn a few words in Japanese, since one of my best friends here in Germany is Japanese. Also I would like to learn more about the daily life in countries on the continents of Asia or Australia. And since I’m a very outgoing person, I really enjoy meeting new people, in general. :-)
In my free time, I like going out with friends: grabbing drinks, hiking, going out to eat, and attending events, concerts etc.
I really enjoy playing computer games. I like reading, watching movies, music and cooking (I often try out new recipes from all over the world, which, I must admit, often ends in culinary disasters) :-)
